Bandera County Water Talk
Managing our Groundwater

From providing drinking water to sustaining our springs and rivers, groundwater is the lifeblood of Bandera County. In the last year, we've seen drought threaten the health of our aquifers. At the same time, growth in the county means more people will rely on groundwater than ever before.

Please join us for a presentation from Natalie Ballew, Groundwater Division Director at the Texas Water Development Board, to learn more about Bandera County's groundwater, how it's managed, and how you can get involved. You can download the flyer here.

When: February 29, 5:30 - 7 PM

Where: Bandera Electric Cooperative - 3172 TX-16, Bandera, Texas

Groundwater Management Areas were created "in order to provide for the conservation, preservation, protection, recharging, and prevention of waste of the groundwater, and of groundwater reservoirs or their subdivisions, and to control subsidence caused by withdrawal of water from those groundwater reservoirs or their subdivisions.” (Texas Water Code §35.001).

The districts in GMA-9 member districts meet at least annually to conduct joint planning with the other districts in the management area and to review the management plans, the accomplishments of the management area, and proposals to adopt new or amend existing desired future conditions.
